About road test
Road Tests
Road tests assess your driving skills. You are tested on your ability to apply the rules of the road and safe driving practices. The G1 road test deals with basic driving skills. The G2 road test deals with more advanced knowledge and driving skills.When you feel qualified to drive safely and are confident enough to take your road test, book your appointment with DriveTest by using:

After passing a half an hour road test, a class G2 licence is issued.
Level 2(Class G2)
In Level 2 (Class G2) as a novice driver, which lasts at least 12 months, you can drive at any time of day or night, without an accompanying driver. You may also drive on any Ontario road.
Two important conditions still apply in Level 2 (Class G2):
- You must not drink any alcohol if you are going to drive.
- Each person must have a seat belt.
Class G2 Road Test After passing a 45 min to one hour road test which includs a component of expressway driving. a class G licence is issued. The 400-series highways include: 400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 409, 410, 416, 417, 420, 427, Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), Don Valley Parkway (DVP), Gardiner Expressway, E. C. Row Expressway, and the Conestoga Parkway. Be sure to obtain the required highway driving experience prior to your road test appointment.
